“One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.”

Intent
Our curriculum intent for French reflects the purpose and aims of the National Curriculum for Languages by helping our pupils develop a core of grammatical and vocabulary knowledge which can be applied through skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Implementation
As part of our planning process teachers refer to the following documents:
- National Curriculum
- Hallow Progression grids
- Hallow Long-term and medium-term plan
All children will be taught a language as part of the curriculum in KS2. The curriculum is sequenced through the threshold concepts:
- To read fluently
- To write imaginatively
- To speak confidently
- To understand the culture of the countries in which the language is spoken
Impact
The curriculum will lay the foundations for further study in KS3 through fostering a love for learning another language, developing confidence in their speaking and listening skills while broadening their awareness of other cultures.
